RILAG Book Club

I started the RILAG Book Club to give a glimpse into what our guests are reading. Check out these great titles and let us know what you’re reading in the comments.

Guest Samantha Bailey, Author

Samantha’s book: Woman on the Edge: I read this book and wow is it a page turner. A quick and entertaining read that had me from page 1.
What Samantha is reading: Confessions on the 745 by Lisa Unger
Description: Selena Murphy is commuting home from her job in the city when the train stalls out on the tracks. She strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat, and their connection is fast and easy. The woman introduces herself as Martha and confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again. But days later, Selena’s nanny disappears.

Guest: Rachel Weeks, Systems Test Engineer, united Launch Alliance

What Rachel is reading: The Only Woman in the room by Marie Benedict
A novel about Hedy Lamarr
One night in 1937, desperate to escape her controlling husband and the rise of the Nazis, Hedy Kiesler disguises herself and flees her husband’s castle.
She lands in Hollywood, where she becomes Hedy Lamarr, screen star. But Hedy is keeping a secret even more shocking than her Jewish heritage: she is a scientist. She has an idea that might help the country and that might ease her guilt for escaping alone—if anyone will listen to her.

What Myrrhanda is reading:

Police chief of a small Massachusetts town, Cameron McDonald makes the toughest arrest of his life when his own cousin Jamie comes to him and confesses outright that he has killed his terminally ill wife out of mercy.

Cameron, aiding the prosecution in their case against Jamie, is suddenly at odds with his devoted wife, Allie — seduced by the idea of a man so in love with his wife that he’d grant all her wishes, even her wish to end her life.
